WATCH “THE ADVICE” ON YOUTUBE
I asked Stephanie to tell me what her advice would be to job seekers right now.
Here’s what she learned after hundreds of applications and interviews:
1. Don’t let AI create a fake you. “It needs to enhance what you’ve done,” Stephanie said. “If you get that job, they’re going to expect you to be able to do those things.”
2. Your LinkedIn isn’t your resume. They need to do different jobs. When Stephanie fixed this, people started coming to her. VPs were reaching out. The opportunities found her, not just the other way around.
3. Commit to the process even when it sucks.
4. Expect the absurd.
5. Use your network—especially when you’re down. Not just friends and family. Former coworkers. Other job seekers. Someone to share the absurdity with.
6. Every interview is practice. Even the ridiculous ones. Especially if you’ve been at the same company for years and haven’t interviewed lately. You learn something from each one.
In the final video, we’ll hear how Stephanie’s job search ended up.
